Preventative Flooring Maintenance
The first step to a successful carpet maintenance plan is preventative maintenance. The goal is to keep soil out of a building.
1. Less dirt will have to be removed from inside the building.
2. Keeping soil and dirt out of your facility is much easier and less expensive than removing it once it had become embedded into your carpet.
Here are some steps to consider when planning for preventative maintenance.
1. Stain treatment: Your Bonitz professional can provide stain treatment to your carpeting, allowing dirt, soil and liquids to release mush more easily during vacuuming and blotting. Stain treating actually coats your carpet’s fibers, helping protect the fibers from being penetrated.
2. Outside and ground maintenance: By keeping sidewalks, walkways, and parking areas clean you reduce the dirt brought into your building and work areas.
3. Walk off mats: Placed at entrances, in elevators and strategically throughout a building, these mats will collect dirt and soil before it can be tracked throughout your building.
4. Restricted areas for eating and drinking.
5. Regular placement and or cleaning of air conditioning filters.
6. Daily vacuuming: the most important part of any maintenance program is daily vacuuming.
