Our Story
Founded in 1954, Bonitz was privately held until 1994. But now we've given ownership to our employees. That's right - the men and women who literally built this company with their own hands now own it. And they're the best in the business. Bonitz is a business built by good people, doing good work. And our history proves it.

Founded by George William (Bill) Rogers and Thomas C. Meredith after World War II. Soon after, they contacted John Bonitz, Sr., one of the south's foremost experts in acoustical and thermal insulation, who ran a company under his name in Greensboro, NC.
The three formed Bonitz Insulation Company of South Carolina in 1954. Soon after, Rogers and Meredith bought out Bonitz and began building the business into what has not only become a nationally recognize leader in the construction industry but also does business across the US and Internationally. From its humble beginnings, Bonitz then began pouring gypsum roof decks and light weight concrete systems in schools, hospitals, office buildings, and retail stores.
Fifty years later, acoustical ceilings and gypsum drywall systems, access flooring, and DIRTT Modular Wall Systems comprise some of the largest product offerings at Bonitz.
Because Bonitz was heavily involved with interior finishes, it was only logical to start Bonitz Flooring Group, now the largest employee-owned commercial flooring dealer in America.
Few companies in the construction industry reach the 50-year milestone. Most that have survived and grown have been bought and traded or have changed names and management over the years. Bonitz has been forging a path since 1954, and we're still growing.
